With schools breaking up for the summer holiday and parents wondering how to keep ‘the kids’ entertained, thoughts turn to your hot tub or swim spa. Children love water and what convenient way to keep them entertained, then in your back garden.  Plus it’s a wonderful time for families to socialise without any screen distractions. 

• It’s relatively safe for children to use a hot tub, however, follow our top precautionary tips and your summer will be full of fun and smiles.... 

        Make sure children are supervised. In any circumstance, children should not be left alone near water. 

• Ensure the water stays clean. • Children cannot cope with sitting in a hot tub for too long. Reduce the temperature and keep it at no more than 35°C when you have young children in the spa with you. 

• Secure your cover! Children have a tendency to fiddle, securing your cover will ensure their fingers or hands don’t get caught or the cover flipped over the tub whilst your children remain inside. 

• Additional test strips are invaluable. Don’t guess by looking at the water and thinking it looks clean if you run out of test strips. Always check your levels. 

• The convenience of having your own hot tub or swim spa in your garden, gives you the control. If the weather is too hot, you can turn the temperature down keeping you and your family cool. 

• Ensure your child/children (and yourself) don’t dehydrate. Always keep drinking water handy.   

• Even though body creams etc aren’t recommended in hot tubs, waterproof sunscreen is a must. However please note, it would be imperative to stay on top of your hot tub/swim spa cleaning routine and not leave it for another day...
